Paul Newman and Eddie Wachs announced a change in
their driver line-up this week at the Molson Grand Prix of
Toronto. 25 year old, Steve Ott will be driving the #35 car for the
Newman Wachs Racing Team. Steve Ott originates from
Thornton, Colorado, but now resides in Houston, Texas.
Steve made his presence known at his first Atlantic race in
Houston. A driving instructor for MSR Houston, he
certainly showed some muscle with a solid seventh place
finish. He got the opportunity to compete at the new Reliant
Park street circuit with sponsorship from MSR Houston.
In Cleveland, driving the #22 MSR Houston car, he showed
again that it wasn't just a fluke. Starting fourth, he demonstrated
early in the race his true racing ability. Battling for second place
with Phillipe (#33 INDECK/Layer 7), he settled for third place.
"The team has decided to put Daniel Gaunt on reserve in hopes
of improving our overall point status," stated Eddie Wachs, "We
feel that, in two races, Steve has shown he can make the
podium with the class of drivers we have today."
NWR is excited in adding Steve Ott to the team roster.
